The MMG Story

Mountain Mapping & GIS (MMG) was formed in 2000, as a GIS Consulting company specializing in GPS data collection and GPS/GIS integration consulting for small to medium sized companies and government agencies.

Geographic Information Systems have been providing spatial data collection, management, analysis, storage and display for large organizations and governments for over 20 years now. MMG was founded with the intention of making the benefits of GIS available to a wider market, for until very recently the 'price of admission' has been very high, leaving smaller organizations and agencies unable to afford the cost of hardware, software, and implementation.

The past few years have seen a very steep decline in the price of all types of digital equipment, from high resolution cameras and range-finders to desktop, laptop and hand held computers. At the same time there has been proliferation of new GIS and associated software products.

These developments have presented an opportunity for small to medium sized businesses and organizations to begin to develop spatial databases to help them manage assets, analyze trends and better plan for the future. Unfortunately, until now there have been no small GIS consulting firms, scaled to provide services for these smaller organizations. MMG is here to change that. We provide affordable consulting and database design services with a view to maximizing the benefits of GIS while reducing the costs.

With a view to always maximizing the benefit to the customer, MMG offers a complete range of services. We can provide either a complete package, including database design, data collection methodology, data collection, and project management, with ongoing support, or we can supply any component of any of these services.
